It turns out that maybe all Hal Steinbrenner was doing last week was pressuring CC Sabathia to make a decision? Jon Heyman has this short piece today that Steinbrenner was saying just that — the offer won’t be there forever.

Of course, forever could be loosely translated.

It won’t do the Yankees any good to pull the offer off the table. They want CC, so they’ll just have to wait and see what CC decides to do. Right now CC could take it, or negotiate for more (perhaps a signing bonus?), or could just pick another offer that we know doesn’t exist right now.

Remember, the Yankees and the Brewers are the only team to have made formal offers. None exists elsewhere that we know of.
