If there aren’t enough suitors in Manny Ramirez’s ring, the Yankees will throw their hat into the ring and compete for his services, according to Mark Feinsand.

The Yankees are already below their payroll from last year and still have a few more spots to fill, a #5 starter, which can be either Andy Pettitte, Ben Sheets, or one of the younger pitchers. It looks more likely, according to Feinsand, that the Yankees will get Pettitte for one year and $10 million. The Yankees could also use another big bat — either Ramirez or Teixeira, or Adam Dunn.

So, that’s why the Yankees are still in the Manny Ramirez watch mode.
