Former Yankee Bernie Williams made his Winter League debut Monday with the Carolina Giants of the Puerto Rico League, batting 1-3 with one strikeout.  Williams batted second in the order as DH.

The 40 year-old former outfielder is making a push to be a part of Puerto Rico’s team in the World Baseball Classic this upcoming March.  Yesterday’s game marks the first time Bernie has been in uniform since the end of the 2006 season.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say I am not the only person supporting Bernie’s push to be in the WBC.  I didn’t like the way the Yankees let the man go after all he did for them and I’d like to see him play well this winter and in March.
