Pete Abe yesterday blogged about what Dave Eiland said about Chien Ming Wang.

Dave Eiland referred to Chien-Ming Wang as the No. 3 starter in a story Pete Caldera did for The Record.

Wang is 46-15 with a 3.74 ERA since the start of the 2006 season. Burnett is 38-26, 3.94. Wang’s career ERA+ is 117. Burnett is at 111. Wang had two straight seasons with 19 wins and was 8-2 last year before going down with injury in June. Burnett can be good, if healthy.

Wang is better. It’s more sensible to put an effective ground ball pitcher/sinker pitcher in between two power pitchers to keep teams off-balance: I’d put the rotation in this order: Sabathia, Wang, Burnett, Pettitte, Chamberlain.

The Yankees need to give Wang more respect.
