Several sources are reporting that the Yankees and Andy Pettitte are very close to a deal.  So close that an announcement could be made today.  The deal is reported to include a base salary under $6 Million, but would include performance incentives that could bring it up to $12 Million.  The deal would be for one season and would allow Pettitte to retire a Yankee in the new Yankee stadium.

Pettitte declined a one year, $10.5 Million contract three weeks ago and that appears to have been a bad decision, since the free agent market money market appears to have dried up immensely in the last month.
