As we announced a few weeks earlier, Derek Jeter will face the Yankees squad on Tuesday in the first exhibition game for the USA WBC squad.  A few weeks ago, Jeter had mentioned it was going to feel different for him.  I wonder how the Yankees will pitch him.

The entire infield has left to play in the WBC – except for newly acquired 1B Mark Teixeira.  I was taking part in the live Bombers chat with Anthony McCarron today (he was filling in for Mark Feinsand) and I asked how he felt the Yankees would do without Jeter, A-Rod and Cano for the next few weeks.  McCarron made the point that it will be difficult for Teixeira to get used to playing 1B for a new team without the rest of his infield for up to the next three weeks.  It kinda makes us Yankees fans hope that the Dominican and American teams don’t go very far in the Classic, allowing the infield a chance to get back to spring training early.

Today’s spring training game, Yankees vs. Houston Astros.  Notables: Posada is starting at DH, Cabrera in CF.  Wang will be the first pitcher today – his first live game since his injury running the bases last season.  Coincidentally, that game was also against Houston.

Here is the Yankee’s starting line-up:

Damon LF
Cabrera CF
Swisher RF
Posada DH
Ransom SS
Molina C
Miranda 1B
Berroa 2B
Bernier 3B

Pitching today: Chien-Ming Wang followed by Tomko, Jackson, De La Rosa, Dunn, Claggett, Kontos.
