Yankees beat up on the Tigers pretty bad yesterday, riding 12 hits to a 12-3 final score. AJ Burnett got the start did very well in his two innings. He retired eight batters and allowed one hit on 18 pitches and, according to some of the Yankee beat writers, was pitching 98 MPH at some points.
Phil Hughes came in for three innings and pitched admirably, striking out four and allowing no hits but two walks. Brian Bruney came in for an inning, struck out one, but allowed a two run HR.
The Yanks’ offense was on fire, and was lead by starters and bench-players/AAA players. Angel Berroa led the team with a 2-3 night, including a HR, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. Cody Ransom and Jose Molina each had two hits, while Melky Cabrera, Xavier Nady(HR), Colin Curtis, Ramiro Pena, Doug Bernier, and Eduardo Nunez added one hit each.
