The Yankees relivers again failed to protect a lead, with Ian Kennedy allowing 5 runs on 5 hits in two innings.  The Blue Jays rode those two innings to a 6-2 win.  The Yankees runs came off a two-run HR from Bret Gardner in the fourth inning, putting the Yankees ahead 2-1.

The very next inning, Kennedy came in and allowed the 5 runs that put the Jays ahead for good.  Andy Pettitte got the start today, and pitched a solid 1.2 innings before he reached his pitch count for the day.  He finished with two strikeouts and allowed only one hit.

Gardner has really been making the case this spring that he should be the full-time CF for the Yankees.  He now leads the team with 3 HR’s this spring and has one of the best averages – .381 out of players who are getting regular starts.  Melky Cabrera played most of the game in LF today, and managed to go 1-3 at the plate.

The Yankees next face the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night.  The game will be broadcast on YES starting at 7:15.

Notable…1B Mark Teixeira went 2-3, including a double off the wall in the fourth inning.  Jorge Posada was in the lineup as DH, but went 0-3 on the day.  Cody Ransom did not play.
