I cannot say enough how excited I am that baseball is back!  Overall we feel great about Yankee baseball this season and Chris has an April Evaluation coming out in the next day or to.  Make sure you check that out.

The Yankees just completed their best April in 3 years at 12-10 and they did it without Alex Rodriguez and with pretty crappy pitching.  Most likely we are going to see some great baseball played in the upcoming months.

Now for the unveiling of the Generation Third Player of the Month for April – Robinson Cano

Choosing Cano was a no brainer for Chris and I.  After 22 games, Cano is hitting .366 and along with runner-up Nick Swisher, has been a top performer for the Bombers offense.  Here are Cano’s stats:

.366 BA (34-93), 5 2B, 5 HR, 54 Total Bases, 16 RBI, 6 BB, 1 SB

We chose Cano because of his consistency behind the plate.  After Thursday night’s game, he is in the midst of a 17-game hitting streak and has had 7 RBI in his past 7 games.

In my opinion this is quite the honor for Cano.  He was struggling a lot last year and put in some serious effort in the offseason to show that last years poor results were a fluke and that he has what it takes to hit .350 for a season.
