- Kevin Cash (as I expected) was sent back down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Friday since All-Star catcher Jorge Posada is back from his hamstring injury. That leaves Francisco Cervelli as the back-up catcher until Jose Molina returns from his injury. According to Peter Abraham, Molina is scheduled to catch an extended spring training game in Tampa Saturday.
- Greg Cohen had a post today about how the Yankees medical department may be to blame for Chien-Ming Wangs pitching woes this season. Apparently the Yankees told Wang not to perform his normal leg exercises in the off-season as he rehabbed his foot injury. I’ll let Greg tell the story, but its obvious someone in medical is not that smart.
- Tonight will be the first time since June 22, 2008 that Hideki Matsui, Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez have been the same lineup. WOW.
- Finally, George King from the NY Post had an article today that quotes Mark Teixeira stating that Joe Girardi is the best manager he has ever played for. Those are pretty strong words considering the other managers Teix has played for – Bobby Cox in Atlanta, Mike Sciosca in LA and Buck Showalter in Texas. Reminded of that, he reiterated that Girardi is the best.
